Project receives additional support from Queens College, CUNY
The Productive Role of Error in AI-Driven Modeling, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, has received additional support through a Queens College Research Enhancement Grant.
The award will fund an undergraduate research assistant to work with project PI Ryan O’Loughlin during Spring 2027. The research assistant will help build the project’s conceptual groundwork in its first year: synthesizing the literature in philosophy of science and philosophy of AI on error, explainability and scientific credibility, and helping prepare for the project’s workshop at Queens College.
The award also strengthens the project’s commitment to undergraduate research training at Queens College. Funded research positions are rare in philosophy, and this one is structured as a research apprenticeship built around regular working sessions with the PI.
A description of the research assistant position is available.
